Cabin Fever at Country Kids

With all the rainy cold days we have had we have spent lots of time inside. This has been great for the children to follow inside interests – Dramatic play, construction, creative expression, literacy and numeracy. However we all have had a bit of cabin fever and we have spent a few days on the deck.  Which is nearly outside but not quite.

Heather got the bubbles out today which the children loved, they laughed and chased the bubbles trying to pop and catch them.  This started a game of falling over which the children loved especially when Heather joined them for some rough and tumble.

Children really enjoy having the opportunity to participate in energetic physical activity especially when their teacher has an excellent sense of fun.  Children also have the opportunity to develop and explore social concepts, rules and understandings in social context with familiar adults and peers.

Fire Brigade Visit

This month Upper Moutere Fire Brigade came to visit Country Kids.

Ian, Susan and Andy discussed smoke alarms and read us a story about FireWise Safety. We learned “Get down, get out, stay out.”

Have you checked your smoke alarm battery recently?

The tamariki crawled under the smoke blanket, shouting “fire, fire” then ran to their place of safety.  Do you have a safe place to run to in an emergency?  Country Kids children know to run to our Assembly point at the boundary fence.

Later we all went outside and had a turn to run the hose and explore the firetruck.

Thank you so much to the Upper Moutere firefighters for their visit and showing that firefighters are our friends
