Pikopiko; Like the new fern shoot our babies and under twos are newly emerging into the world. We celebrate that newness and seek to surround them with care and stimulation as they journey towards independence.

Pikopiko Pedagogy

It is important to us to offer our infants and toddlers an extension of the primary care that they receive from their home and parents.

We believe in allowing the infants and toddlers to make secure attachments with their teachers by providing continuity and familiarity of care. We understand how important it is to respect the infants and toddlers choice with whom they feel an attachment.

This will help each child build positive reciprocal relationships and enable them to learn at their own developmental pace and abilities in an environment where they feel safe and secure.

For each child this means that:

- I am nurtured and supported.

- I am listened to and encouraged to
express myself.

- My interests and successes are celebrated.

- I am flying as I learn through my play.

- I am enjoyed for the individual
that I am

We strive to encourage physical independence, promote imaginative and interactive play and language development. We believe that positive relationships are the basis for all learning.
