September Just 4 Kids Update

Date: September 2, 2009 | Category: News

Our big Just 4 Kids children are busy as usual. At present their interests are widely spread from domestic animals, to ants, to fossils in the morning group and planting and growing in the afternoons.

Domestic animals study will see us become duck parents in the near future, so we have been preparing for this important process by learning, reading and singing about ducks (we can waddle pretty well by now too…)
Talking about fossils, some children went to the Museums fossil exhibition and they took us from today to prehistoric times and dinosaur land! (Will this interest go any further? We will see…..)

Watching the ants on Country Kids deck encouraged us to learn more about their society and rules within (did you know about forager ants and nursery ants?)

The afternoon children have been learning about plants, seedlings and will talk more in depth about the germination process as the planting and sowing in our vegetable patch will keep them busy with the wonderful warmer spring weather we are having now.

Both groups also have an ongoing strong focus on early literacy skills and phonetics with the younger children using visual clues and a lot of prompting, while our older children are already moving onto writing their own shopping lists, starting to sound out words and recognising signs and words.
