Piko Piko – September 2009

Date: September 2, 2009 | Category: News

Some of our young children have been extremely busy climbing. They have started on the low equipment and built up to being confident on the adventure playground. They have developed excellent skills and teachers are still supporting this learning. We have continued working on friendships, using each other’s names and welcoming each other in the morning. We have continued focusing on people and are now looking at families. We are asking parents to bring a photo of their family to put on our board. We have been enjoying the fantastic weather and the water play has been very popular, tipping, pouring, transferring, tasting and quite often getting wet!

Can we please ask parents to check that their babies routines sheet is up to date. We have created a new system with bottles to stop any mix ups happening. We now have named shelves in the fridge for each child’s bottle.

We have had an awesome month and are also enjoying being outside. Water play has been a regular with tipping, pouring, squirting and splashing. We have also been looking at maths concepts and science, half full, half empty, what happens when we mix colours, cause and effect.
Lorraine has been busy painting faces so we have had a lot of dramatic play, with the children acting as cats, dogs, tigers and butterflies.
During group time we have been playing singing games. A favourite at the moment is Sandy Girl and The Honey Bear Pot. All the children are gaining confidence at these games.
We have been encouraging the children to be independent with their belongings-putting shoes on, clothing away and hanging up their own paintings. We are so proud how well our children are taking responsibility!
